Three (or more) of the following symptoms are present in a fictional man to a degree that is inconsistent with traditional protagonist flaws¹ and that negatively impacts directly on narrative or character relationships:
- war criminal
- murderer
- toxic and manipulative
- obsession confused with attraction
- an inability to take no for an answer, to the detriment of himself and those around him
- attempts to raise the dead²
- highly idealistic but callous with consequences of achieving goals
- attempted genocide³
- prone to monologuing
- possessive of loved ones to an extreme degree
¹ i.e. placed into lights where actions are deemed “unforgivable” where in others, they would be considered “just” or “righteous”
² Despite use of the word “attempts”, successful ones are also valid under this criteria
³ Though this particular symptom is considered contentious even in open-minded circles
